Galactic Cup II TO Time

Hello all, last year around this time I started to think about running a large tournament that show cased the talented players from all over the world.  I had 144 players sign up from 26 countries around the globe.  I had some help with this, but to a large degree, all my own making, I did most of this work on my own.  This time around I’m looking for some help.  I’m looking for several people to help run this with me to make this a Grand Event.  The Galactic Cup for me is the vassal equivalent of FFG Worlds event, only bigger.  I set very high standards for myself when running these events, and I will expect nothing less from those who choose to Join the TO side.

A Glimpse Into the Future

In last year’s Galactic Cup I broke away from swiss to try a Round Robin event.  There were many divisions and only the top 2 from each division moved on.  While I like this option, it did have it’s draw backs.  Now FFG has added MoV to it’s scoring of events, which I like a lot.  This time around I will be doing divisions based on Time Zones.  In the US I will have 3 time zones Eastern, Central, and Pacific/Mountain time.  For Europe I will have between 2 and 3 time zones UTC, UTC +1, and UTC + 2 as a possible example.  As of now none of these are set in stone, and registration will determine the most likely break down.  Each Division will have X number of players signed up.  Depending on the number of players in the Division will alter how many players can move into the elimination rounds.  Here’s an example of what I mean.  Say the Central Division has 150 players in it, and the Pacific/Mountain Division only has 50 players.  the Central Division will have 3x the number of players eligible for the elimination rounds as the Pacific/Mountain Division.  In short if you play in a Larger Division, then your division will have more players make the top cut.  Much of this will be determined by registration.

So you want to be a TO?

If you want to assist me in this event and TO one of the Divisions then let me explain my Expectations to you.

Here’s what I expect before the Tournament Begins:

  • Passion for the Game!
  • You should be up to date on the Tournament Rules and latest FAQ
  • You should have a Team Covenant Account
  • I want you to be familiar with Cryodex tournament software
  • I want you to actively recruit players for your division.  This means reaching out to World, National, Regional champs.  It also means reaching out to people through social networks.
  • Keep track of your player registration.
  • You need to be able to work with and assist your fellow TO’s
  • What ever else needs doing.
Here’s what I expect During the Tournament:
  • You need to be able to post blogs here on TC for Each round of play.
  • We will be using Cryodex to run this event so keep the info up to date.
  • You will need to be able to Store the log files for your division, and make them open for players and public review.
  • If rules questions come up bring it to the attention of all the TO’s so we as a group can collectively rule on this and filter this down to all of the Divisions.
  • If you have the time you may also participate in the event, but TO duties come first.  In general I haven’t found this to be an issue like it would with a live event.
Elimination Rounds:
Once we reach the Elimination rounds your jobs as TO’s are done.  I will take things from there.  Now that I’ve spelled out some of the work that I expect from you, if your still interested please let me know.  I’m looking for TO’s for the following Time Zones:
  • UTC
  • UTC +1
  • UTC +2
  • Eastern
  • Central
  • Pacific/Mountain
  • UTC + 8
  • UTC + 10
  • UTC + 12
  • others if needed.
If your interested then you can either PM me here, or email me at mrfroggies at gmail.  Lets make this the best tournament yet!
